Every driver has a story to share. In this Driver Spotlight, we’ll introduce you to Raymond, a Minneapolis-based independent contractor known for his inviting personality and top-notch customer service. Read on to learn more about Raymond and why he drives with Dispatch.

How did you hear about Dispatch?

To be honest with you, I met another driver in a gas station. He said to me, “I just picked up a package and dropped it off in Plymouth and made 41 bucks.”

I said, “Who are you working for?” So then he got me the name and address and I interviewed with Ryan, and that’s how I got the job.

How long have you been driving with Dispatch?

I think I started last July.

What kind of vehicle do you drive?

Ford Transit 250.

Why did you decide that Dispatch was the best job fit for you and your lifestyle?

I didn’t necessarily decide that, I just liked the system, so I just fell into it. It’s not a pressing job, it’s not a demanding job. With Dispatch, you have the freedom to choose what job you want. It’s also a nice environment.

Tell us your favorite Dispatch story!

I came into the office after I started working for the company. Andrew was walking around and I didn’t know who he was and I said, “How are you doing?”

He shook my hand and I said, “What do you do for Dispatch?” He said, “I'm the CEO.”

I said, “Really!?” That’s how I met Andrew. Every time he sees me he has a smile on his face and he remembers my name. That’s my funny story.

Why should other people drive with Dispatch?

If I have to recommend other people to drive with Dispatch, as I said it’s a company with no stress. You take your job, you do your best, and it pays well. It’s a good company to work for and it’s growing. They have finance, so they’re buying more vehicles, they’re expanding, and it’s good.

What’s your favorite thing about being able to set your own hours?

All my life I had to be at a job. Report to the job, work from 7-4...with this job it’s more laid back. As an independent contractor, I can start when I want. That's the freedom of being an independent contractor. You pay for your own maintenance, you pay for your gas, and you have to make money, but you have time on your hands.

Tell us anything else you'd like to know!

I believe in customer service. As a salesman, customers look for the best result. They want the product in good condition. When I meet them on the job, I greet them as a person. I always smile, shake their hand, and say, “Hey, I’m Raymond.” So respect for the customer, no matter...they might be the installer, but they represent the company that I'm delivering to and I think that goes a long way in customer service. The main thing is, if I’m working with Dispatch, I represent Dispatch, and if I pick up the product from Johnstone and take it to a customer, I represent Johnstone with the product and Dispatch, so it’s all one.
